My Iraq protest song titled “Embrace”

I came home from attending a Bruce Cockburn concert (my hero!), and wrote this song.  At the time, I had a client who headed a rape crisis program in Arcata, CA.  She told me that the Dept. of Health and Welfare had been touring the US, gathering information, and they found that more women and children died every year than the total amount of soldiers who died in the Vietnam war.  The Iraq war had just broken out, the first one. I lived in an area with a war going on between loggers and the environmentalists.  Logging companies would regularly misinform their employees and convince them that the environmentalists were the reason their jobs were in peril…not mentioning that they were shipping logs to Japan for milling, automating things so people weren’t needed for particular jobs and clear-cutting trees so there were less trees to cut down. At the time, the logging companies were trying to gain permission to cut down old growth trees.  So all of this informed the song. I still believe that love is the answer!

My friend from CA, Grok, plays lead guitar on this song. Thanks for listening!
