Today, in honor of the holidays, I decided to add something different to my blog…a recipe!I made these nuts a few years ago, and loved them. The recipe came from the PCC newsletter, the local co-op here in Seattle, WA. Spicy Herb-Roasted Nuts: 1 1/2 cups almonds
1 1/2 cups walnuts or cashews
1 cup hazelnuts
1 cup pecans
1/2 cup Maple syrup
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (for spicier nuts, use 1/2 tsp.)
1/2 teaspoon each of dried oregano, sage, thyme, rosemary and marjoram
1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons sea salt Mix nuts, maple syrup and all seasonings in a 10 ” X 15″ baking pan. Bake at 300 degree F for about 45 minutes, until all the moisture is absorbed and the nuts are browned. Stir occasionally, breaking up clumps. Cool and store in an airtight container for three days at room temperature or up to one month in the freezer. These are great for gifts!
