I colored this using this fun phone app…..COLORFY
Wheels Go Round and Round
The medicine wheel spins round and round
through cycles of health and disease.
The trick is to welcome the whirling motion
and be at peace.
The Hindu wheel spins round and round
through cycles of lifetimes’ dreams.
The trick is to accept the whirling motion
and step off when you please.
The mandala of seasons spins round and round
through cycles of young and old.
The trick is to celebrate the whirling motion
and accept the growth of years.
The wheel of our love spins round and round
through cycles of intimacy.
The trick is to bless the whirling motion
and hold to the heart and love that
remains unchanged
in the center of it all.

Love your poem and the mandala. I see owls in it.

I’m glad you liked my poem. Thanks for reading and commenting. Interesting that you see Owls. I love Owls. In the Navajo spirituality, Owls, portend death. I lived on the Navajo rez so learned about their beliefs.

We have many different tribes around here, Navajo being one. I tend to believe owls have the death energy, but rebirth and transformation equally as strong. They all go together.

Yes, I thought of rebirth/transformation after writing my first reply. It’s interesting as I did that colorfy mandala last night, then had a tumultuous night, restless, hard to sleep, woke up with intense pain in my foot, and had a nightmare where I was drowning, my first nightmare like that, and as I was drowning, struggling to get up to the surface of the water, I woke up. That is a very death/rebirth dream.
The Navajos don’t like to use Owls in their art due to the death connection and they feel that seeing an Owl is a bad omen.

Interesting dream. For me, seeing owls outside or in art are a message about needing to let something die in order to birth something new. However, several times, they have warned me about accidents or deaths about to happen. Like, to prepare me ahead of time.

So since you saw owls in my mandala, what message did you get from the mandala?

Since they are all in a complete circle, it seems more of a cycle of life with a transformational theme. There seem to be beetles between each owl. Beetles are transformative as well, as they go from larval stage to flight. Maybe I’m due for a change – one never knows if it is small or large. Maybe something as small as being more productive to something as large as full blow ascension! 🙂

Katelon, this poem makes me realize how connected we all really are! The other day, at the store, I randomly came across a “stained glass” Mandala coloring book and loved the idea. Earlier in the week, a lady recommended I color mandalas as a form of meditation. And today, someone gives me a All-Seeing Eye Mandala coloring book… This poem (which is lovely, by the way) just brings this synchronicity full circle. 🙂

How wonderful. You might enjoy the colorfy app for your phone, too. There are many free pages to color. In 75 I worked at my son’s alternative preschool and we had mandala coloring books back then. We also had those great smelling big markers. Both the teachers and the kids enjoyed coloring them. Enjoy your new coloring book.
